Wicked Ice/Pothole Combo

Over the last fifteen months I have put 40,000 miles on a used 97 Aero, which has been the sweetest running car I have owned. The first major problem a year ago was a front snow tire blowout at 75 mph on the interstate. Aero stopped fine despite only sidewalls left. When I had the tire replaced, I thought I heard an intermittent rubbing noise and took it to a dealer service dept before going on another trip. They said no problems. Before I got back the ABS light began coming on. Dealer said ABS sensor line rubbed through and whole unit had to be replaced. About $700 for that job and fender liner replacement.
Last night I didn't see what looked to be a large piece of ice in a pothole until too late. Right front wheel took a hard hit. Steel wheel with snow tire seems okay, but with a slow leak. The main problem is a vibration and a pulsing back and forth feeling in the steering wheel, even at slow speeds. Not sure what was damaged that would cause the problem -- CV joint? Would welcome any ideas on what the problem might be and whether I should even consider going back to the dealer.
