... I sure do miss having that Web site to refer people to! It has the info you need, but it's busted at the moment. Check the link below in a couple of days (I hope!).
The motor mounts (liquid filled/hydraulic) are a weak point. The shifter moves a lot normally, but if it really thrashes, a mount is probably bad. If the rubber bushings in the torque rod (top rear of engine, passenger side) are broken, that's another sign; both the bushing and a lower mount will need replacement. Beware the AC; if it doesn't work, it probably isn't something cheap, it's probably the compressor. Does the clutch feel good, or is it chattery or noisy or slippy? If it feels OK now, it will go another 50 K or so (more in a absolute sense, but they generally get chattery somewhere along the way). Heater core/water pump/cooling system: Prone to problems when not properly cared for. No coolant smell in cabin; no fog on windshield; no wet carpets. Heater blower motor: Frankly, it probably won't last a lot longer, unless it's been replaced ... pretty big job. Other than that, just try to be sure that it's been well maintained.
