curious manual shifter behavior

'87 9000 T - manual
of late the gearshift has been acting strangely. If say I am in 1st or 2nd and accelerating from a stop I notice that as the RPM's rise the gearshift will occasionally "want to" pop out of gear and into the next (higher gear) This is similar to the previously observed phenomenon of the car "not allowing me" to downshift from say 3rd to second if I am decelerating but still going too fast for 2nd. I of course appreicate this behavior as it prevents me from shifting poorly, but as noone has ever seemed to mention this I worry that there is something terribly wrong with my Saab (whom I call Lazarus). Is this the case? Are these symptom of a failing shifter coupling, transmission mount, or transmission synchros? New motor mount and engine bushings (from eeuroparts) have less than 2000 miles. The clutch disc is old, but when I had the transmission off last summer it still seemed to have some wear left on it - I wouldn't bet the farm on that though.
Any wild guess would be wonderful.
