I can't speak to the crank pulley nut but the quickest way to remove the start, IMHO, is to use a long extension, maybe 18" to 2 feet (I forget exactly) with a universal joint and 13mm socket. Lean way over the car, I leaned over from the front so I was laying on the engine, in order to get a better view. Getting the starter out is a job with a bad reputation but I have been able to get mine out in 10 minutes. Also disconnect the battery before beginning and note where the wires hook on the back.
