Get the car for parts. Usually the insurance company will settle and still sell you the car. If you are interested in having a car of that vintage (or one that shares similar parts) you can save big time on parts. That is assuming you have space to store the car out of sight. My wife told me I could do it, but I had to hide the car somewhere. Just think of the savings on transmissions, DI cassette, ACC stuff, dash parts etc.
