All the heated seats failures I've heard talking about, and the one I had on my car, are due to a broken wire in the seat cushion, on the door side, near the back. It's the point of the seat where wear is worse, due to the getting in and out of the car. The wire carries current and it gets hot (Joule effect), so the seat heats. If it's interrupted, the current can't flow and you can't have Joule effect.
Remedy: remove leather/cloth from seat cushion, find a burnt spot (the wire interruption is there)(if it is, as I believe, where I told you there is no need to remove all the cover, it's enough to raise it a bit), get together the two halves of the wire and reassemble everything.
