Jim,
I walked the same road with my '92 CSE except for the overheating. I do not think the two should be related, but others correct me if I'am wrong.
In my case the Airco did not work when I bought the car, and what basically did happen was that when the ACC wanted to 'throw some airco in', it dispayed the fault as you desribed: you could not fire up the blower, would go down to minimum and stay there. Very unpractical being on holidays in Provence i can tell you.
Once I had the system sealed, retrofitted and refilled all worked fine. You have a '94, so you should be fine as you have an R134a system. In NL a check-up and fill would set me back some 50GBP.
But half a year later (now) it displays the same thing again. This time it simply is this blower motor regulator (transistor). Sometimes it would already fail on longer trips when there was heat build-up in the regulator, but now it has left me. Quasi's site gives you a very good description on how to do this. Transistors (Toshiba 2sd1525) are about 6GPB apiece.
Once you have done this, your climate inside should be ok. Calibrate the ACC and check the # faults again. If one remains, you might want to have it diagnosed. Townsend imports BTW have almost the whole ACC shop repair manual on-line.
The motor IMHO something else, probably the termos or the relay, should not be that hard either. Don't worry, you will get there.
Good luck,
Jan Geert
