You never know how fast these things will really accelerate until you have a direct comparison. The other night something low, Japanese and dark green followed me onto the bypass, sat on my back bumper and weaved about a bit, so I had to give it some welly. We started at about 30 mph. I found I was still going away from him when I reached 100, at which point I eased off for safety's sake, and because I quite like my driving license.
I let him past after the next roundabout, which meant I could identify the culprit. It was a Nissan 200SX, and when I looked it up I found it was listed as having a 2-liter turbo and 197 bhp, with 0-60 in about 7 seconds.
So, same power output as a standard CSE, but I've got a 1993 automatic 5-door hatchback and his car is manual, lower, lighter and a lot newer. Also, he was half my age and had a baseball cap and spots. I was childishly pleased - sorry about that. But mostly I credit Saab torque and my JT 3" exhaust, which is the only modification - I think it adds about 15 bhp, and is particularly helpful at higher revs.
