I took my 9000 out for a nice long 100mile round trip drive today. It is a wonderful machine - especially after replacing the front wheel bearing. I notice though that the car's roadhandling is sub par. Part of this involves the old (defective) power steering rack that I plan to renew in a month or two (gotta save up). Ignoring the stiffness in the steering I still notice that the ride in my car is a little rough. I have installed new motor mounts everywhere except for the transmission. I have two questions:

- If the shocks (or struts, I don't know the difference) have failed, what would be the sign of this failure? Car has 122K miles, is failure at this age typical?

- How else can I improve the roadhandling of the car. I'm planning on an alignment after the new rack is in. Are there other things I can do? I'm hoping the solution is to replace a bunch of old bushings.
