Crutchfield does indeed have an adapter (sort of a misnomer IMHO) that plugs into the stock speaker harness, and another one that plugs into the stock power/ground/illum/antenna harness. Thus, completely remove all components from the stock setup, then take the harness adapters from Crutchfield and connect them to the proper wires on the Kenwood's wiring harness. I use crimp on quick disconnects, but some people like soldering, some like butt connectors.. Solder and crimp would be the best of both worlds, but I change my stereos a LOT, so I don't solder, and there's no sound detriment to crimping. There is a fuse in the main fusebox for the stereo, but every aftermarket deck I have seen, also has a fuse on at least the ignition power line, sometimes on both ignition and the memory power line.

Out of curiosity, which Kenwood MP3 unit did you get? The 2002 models look very full featured, and even come in the required black. I fail to understand why they can't do random across the entire disc... much as people wonder why my Blaupunkt MP3 won't remember the exact spot you left off when playing an MP3..
