Bill, here's what I have discover with your help, guys :
YS3 = Saab
CC = 9000
4 = 4-Door Sedan
8 = 4- Speed Automatic
B = Fuel Injection, 2.3 l 16V
9th digit = check digit to valid Vin
P = 1993
1 = Trollhättan Line A
12 th to 17 th digit = serial number
So, as you see it seems that the car is not coming from Finland ...
But, more surprisingly for me : I see that the year made of the car is 1993 ... and mine has been registered at the National Ministery of
Transportation in december, 1992 . So, how can it be possible ?
Second question coming on my mind : I have a new engine in the car, placed 10 months ago. Saab mechanic who did the job told me the engine is younger than my car. Is there anyway to retrace the story of the engine by looking at a number on the motor, then by finding an information site on the web who mentions and explains those engine's serial numbers ?
And where on the engine may I be able to find this number ?
Again, thank you all very much by helping me to play the role of Sherlock Holmes seeking the story of my car.
