Good evening, my new Saab friends.

I took your kind advice and today took my car to a very well reputed Saab mechanic in Portland, about 90 miles away. I figured it was well worth the trip. For just over $100, he checked my car out from top to bottom and everything in between. Then he took the time to share everything with me and point everything out, AND he wrote a list, in order of importance, of everything which needs to be addressed. He advised me to take it to the used Saab dealer from whom I bought the car (it's still under the 1,000 mile warranty) and tell him what the truth is.

There were a couple of items which are issues of inspectability which he said SHOULD HAVE been fixed PRIOR to the sale of the car. One is the front brake pads which are worn to about 1/8 or less. He said to insist they change those. I don't know if they will, but I'll surely ask.

Then there is a THROTTLE CABLE which CLEARLY needs to be replaced. Even I could see it. He said it was appalling that they let it go like that.

Here is the remainder of the list, in order of importance, to make the car "perfect". I'm sure the dealer will do none of these, but here they are. I'd love to know if you agree that these should all be addressed, one way or the other.

1. Front brake pads
2. Throttle cable
3. Oil pressure sending unit
4. Power steering pressure hose
5. Trans shift shaft seal
6. Valve cover gasket
7. Distributor plug O ring
8. AIR check valve (noisy)
9. Headlamp wipers (they were removed, and I'm not going to bother replacing them at $265.)

If anyone wishes to advise me as to which of these items I should be asking the dealer to change, I would be most grateful.

Thank you again for all of your kind advice.

Julia
