Chris, I just fixed repaired the wires on the hatch of a 90 9KT. I didn't follow the wires into the bottom of the hatch, I just removed the trim peices, so I don't know about connectors on each end. All but one of the wires was stripped, and two were completly broken. I spliced in peices of wire to repair the broken and stripped ones and gave them a little extra length. Then tie wrapped and heatshrinked the whole think back together. I bought some split loom to replace the stuff that was on there, it was cracked and britle. The trim peice on the hatch has a lot of room for the extra connections. It all works now, but it has only been in service for a week or so, I can't attest to the reliability yet.
