I saw the engine in the car before they did the transplant and noted some fairly distinctive marks around the valve cover, etc. that are still there now the engine is in my car. And that Aero I saw no longer has an engine or transmission.
Oh, well. I should have questioned it at the time, but wasn't sure. I would definitely question it now. At least it was a year newer ('97) and the clock on the car showed 60K miles less than mine (mine was very high mileage for the year). I have also had no problems with the engine in the year I've had it and it seems to be in very good condition (waterways in the cylinder head are practically sparkling).
They fitted it for £250 (US$360) which I thought was pretty good for this area. Another local Saab specialist would have charged twice that.
