I've dragged my feet on this long enouph. One more question.
I like the idea of switching to manual transmission because I've had other saabs in the past with manual transmissions and no problems like I am having now with this automatic.
But it occurs to me taking the parts out of a donar car is one more level of effort. Obtaining the car and removing the parts.
So I'm leaning toward the Erikkson rebuild auto tranny to make it a clean deal. (Hopefully)
One other concern. If I throw in the Erikkson. Are there other parts that could be defective? Onything in the shifting assembly? Anything outside the transmission that could be causing problems.
I had problems with the transmission not working properly for the last two years before it finally went out it a cloud of smoke, bad noised and fluid all over the road. I wonder if there was some factor outside the transmission that may have helped cause this problem? Electronic problem of some sort? Because over the two years nobody could tell me what was the cause of the problems I was having. There does not seem to be any component level repair for this. It is either live with it or replace the transmission.
What is done is done on the old transmission, but I'd hate to ruin the new one if there is an external factor. Electronic for example.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike
