I intended to go the the U-Pull-It in Rosemount MN yesterday afternoon but it was snowing and my wife wanted me home. Instead I barbecued in the backyard.
This morning I went to that junkyard and scored a new driver's side mirror ($9) and new right rear door (rust free $30) and a blower motor ($6) I also whitteled the noon hour freeing up the power steering rack. I know that mine (an '87) suffers from a design flaw in which a plastic bushing was used where a metal bushing was appropriate. I heard once on this board that Saab corrected that design but I don't remember the year they corrected it. I plan on pulling out a rack on my next trip to the yard, but I worry about pulling out one that's no better than mine. I'm sure that I'de be better off just buying a rebuilt one but as Michael Smith knows I'd much rather buy 2 cases of Sangiovese.
Opinions and facts solicited.
