First off, I'll agree that the OG900 feels like it has more body roll than a 9000. I prefer the handling of the 9000 to the 900. A 9000 has a much more comfortable ride. However, I find the 900 feels a little bit more 'tossable', even if the catches are quiet as crisp.
Of course, you might have been talking about a NG900. Those vary widely in handling, depending on year and model. The '94 900T had a great suspension - too tight for street use, in my opinion, but a good track car. In later years they softened it up too much, and there was a lot of variation in-betweeen.
But - you drove exactly one 900T, and you didn't mention what year it was, the condition of the engine, suspension, etc. Any OG900 is going to be at least 10 years old, and if the car hasn't been looked after, it can feel a lot older than that. Bad shocks, worn bushings, so-so tires, and a tired engine that hasn't been tuned in the better part of a decade, and any car would be crap. I'm just assuming here. It may have been a car in great shape, recently tuned, with fresh shocks and performance rubber. But if so, I suspect you'd have felt a little different about it.
If you're looking for performance handling, find a SPG. The Talledega was more of a trim package than a handling package. If you're really interested in a 900, try driving a few, just to make sure that you get a representative sampling. These are all used cars, not new, so there is a lot of variation. To judge all used 900's based on one car is like giving up the opposite sex because of one bad date.
Good luck!
