If you car is in limp home mode, the TCS in EDU area will stay on (TCS light that comes on with ABS light during start up and go away after 15 secs). The car is still drivable in LHM but throttle will feel like brick at the bottom and you have to push the pedal very hard to rev engine up. It's no fun in LHM but it gets you home - hence the name LMH.
The TCS/Ctrl (in tachometer) that you referred to will come on when TCS engages under slippage condition. Again it should not stay on. If it stays on, it means that TCS EDU sees that one of the wheels is spinning freely and applies the brakes to prevent slippage rendering your car undrivable. Like someone has already mentioned, it could be faulty ABS sensor(s) sending wrong signal or TCS EDU itself.
Also don't forget to check bleeder valve located on the firewall which is the most common culprit for TCS system. While your problem doesn't seem to be the valve itself, the system is very complicated and one faulty component can screw up the whole system. Good luck.
