My wife was in an broad side accident in our '91 9000 CD and we had body work done on the car. The driver side door was worked on but I'm not sure if they replaced or repaired it.

The door seems to shut just fine since the repair, but we've noticed a significant increase in wind noise from the driver's door. Given that this happened so accutely I'm guessing it's a door adjustment problem rather than a seal problem.

I looked up "wind noise" on this site, but there are conflicting theories/fixes. Some suggest adjusting the strike plate (which I think is the metal plate fixed onto the door frame and onto which the door latches when you shut it), but it seems to me that the strike plate is welded on and not moveable (am I incorrect?).

Others suggest adjusting the latch itself.

Can someone shed some light on this for me. Who's right and how exactly do I go about implementing the proper fix? What tools do I need?
