Well, it could just be the plugs having an incorrect gap, or more
seriously, as Steve noted, it could be the DI. Incorrect spark gaps
(read too-wide) and early failures of the DI cartridge have been
documented to be correlated, though not too many seem to mention
this. Search past postings by Aeroguy on this matter - he has as
much experience as anyone I've read on this subject. He noted that
Saab understood this correlation and changed the recommended
tolerance on plug gaps toward the narrow side. I wouldn't let a
faulty DI discourage you from buying the vehicle though, just
figure about $300 to negotiate around. It's very simple to install
and takes less than 5 minutes to change out.
