car is 89 9000 turbo 2.0litre engine with either 80 or 115 amp alternator.
1 - how does one determine which serpatine belt is correct?
2 - the owners manual states either an 80 amp or 115 amp altermator is fitted.
3 - parts stores have gobs of 80 amp belts but no 115 belts - is the 115 Amp alternator a rare breed?
4 - the difference in the belts is about 1 inch can the spring adjuster 5.-accomodate the small difference.
The part number on my belt indicates it is for the 80 amp alt but my spring adjuster appears to be fully extended.
5 - How does one determine when the alternator is buried and unable to see data plate? One garage said the difference is the pulley only and one turns faster than the other and that is why one is 80 and one is 115- I take this with a lump of salt but smiled any way! Sure would appreciate some help here. BTW one Saab dealer said my car has an 80 amp and another said it is 115 - Guess I had better stop checking around!
