To check transmission fluid, run the car for a few minutes. With car running and foot on brake.... Move gear selector to D and leave it there for a second, move the selector to R and leave it there for a second. Then, starting with 1 run the selector into each gear, leaving it in gear for a couple of seconds. Put it in park and run around to the front of the car to check the fluid level.
If you check the fluid level with the car off, it will look seriously overfilled.
I doubt your problem is boost. I would think excessive boost pressure would be pretty noticeable when driving, especially if you hit the boost cut off.
Steve B is really sort of right about diagnosing without actually running through the correct test sequence. It's sort of like picking stocks by fixing the NY Times to a dartboard. Not that it won't work, just that it introduces a certain element of chance.
