I haven't heard the term freewheel hub in conjunction with SAAB since the early '70's with the 95,96,and 97 (Sonett) models with Ford pushrod V4 engines (two stokes had them also). In those cars, the freewheel hub is a one way ratchet that engages the transmission when the engine output shaft rotation exceeds the rotation of the transmission input shaft - i.e., when it is powering the forward motion of the car. When the reverse is true, the input shaft of the transmission is rotating faster than the output shaft of the engine (e.g., rolling downhill), the car "freewheels," or coasts. This feature could be engaged or disengaged manually and was on manual shift cars (I don't have any recollection of an automatic version of these models). It was supposed to save gas, but it was a common failure point of these cars.
In the subsequent SAAB models, this type of freewheel was dropped because of reliability problems as the horse power of the engines increased.
In the 9K automatics, there are two internal one-way clutches, but they are not called freewheels in the SAAB manual, and are not accessible without complete disassembly of the transmission.
After this long preamble, I am curious as to what part of the transmission you are referring to and how the dealship arrived at this conclusion. I don't believe that current SAAB dealer parts manuals break down the transmission to internal components - I know that they don't for the valve body. Therefore it is not surprising that the part may not be available from SAAB. KeithR has a good recommendation to steer you towards Erikkson for ZF 4HP-18 parts.
