I have lost 4th and reverse on a 89 9000t SE auto. Gos fin in 1-2-3 but in drive it when it engages 4th there is no dirve at all, as if you had the clutch down and reving in a manual. Same is to be said for reverse it just wong engage.
Symtoms before this finaly went were it went in to 4th early, sometimes far too early, and it would only engage reverse say every one in three.
I have checked the gars are set up in the correct alingment and thats fine but I took the top off to check the valve body and it seems someone has fiddled beofre as some of the vale bdy fixing bolts are rounded off so I cant extrat that.
I have been pointed inthe direction of the govenr seal to solve this.
Thing is I made this car as good as new as the engine is sound. I have spent a lot on it and need to get this sorted as its sat there for over six months!
So is it a fixable probelm or juts a simple replace. I cant afford a new trans so whats the advice with buying a secnd hane unit.
Thanks for reading
Mark
PS: I'm in the UK
