I was pleasantly surprised with both the car and the used car dealer.
Regarding the latter, they were accommodating, friendly and overall pretty
decent guys. Regarding both the former and the latter, they had replaced
all five engine mounts - so the car shifted like new. I didn't notice the
difference until I looked for it, and compared to the 88 9kT - shifter's
all over the place.

Some concerns raised by me and my friend:

1. Check engine light stayed on during the entire drive, and there was a
slight idle fluctuation throughout, around 800-900RPM. They also mentioned
that the stereo needed a code because of the battery dying or something
related. This related? No real way to check the DI cassette without kind
tearing into the car though, eh?

2. My friend detected some valvetrain noise which I'm not entirely sure is
normal. Kind of a hollow sort of sound, if that makes sense. I know it's
not lifters and SHEE-IT, I know it's not a broken wristpin noise! But I've
never heard worn down balance shaft sprocket noises...

3. Consistent oil drips beneath the car. Oil pan gasket? This was on the
passenger side, beneath the car. Well, not directly passenger side, but
more passenger side of centre than driver's side of centre. Timing cover
is kinda nasty looking (200,000km on it), ie. oily.

4. One piece aluminum distributor plug was missing, as was the distributo
y-clamp. However, a black plastic or rubber plug was in there. Still,
there was evidence of wet oil underneath the plug. I don't think this is a
major issue though, as I nearly have the parts to fix this in my cache.

This was the first time I've driven a 91 9kT, and almost the first time
I've driven a Mitsu equipped Saab (the one time I moved a 91 SPG around
the parking lot doesn't count). With typical British understatement, the
car has sufficient low end torque. With my more usual Canadian slang, the
words "holy shit" and "haul ass" bounce through my head. Wow. I want one
of these now! :)

Oh, was also disappointed, though only mildly, to find that the sunroof
was only a metal one, not like the glass one on our 88 9kT. Can't have
everything.

One last thing. This turned out to be a rare Canadian market 9000 SPG - with the only differentiation being the suede inserts on the seats. Unfortunately, these were kinda worn down.
