If you're saying 30 MPG plus, that's great for an auto, IMHO. At it's best, when my car was an automatic, it got about 28.5 MPG. That would be never going over 60 mph and using the boost very sparingly. More typical freeway cruising was about 27.5 MPG.
In any case, if the freeway cruising MPG is about where it should be, I would attribute low city mileage to nothing more than the amount of stop vs the amount of go.
