Squeaky wheel follow-up

Howdy, Saab fans,
If you remember in our last episode (back in March), I asked about the probable cause of the squeaking, then resistance, and scary temporary lockup of my steering. That event was followed by excessive vertical play in the steering wheel. Shortly after I wrote that message, bearing rollers started appearing on the floor under the steering column.
Turns out it was the lower steering column bearing. It also turns out that this is a part that fails so rarely that nobody had one in stock.
An independent Saab shop in the Woodstock, NY area ordered one for me and installed it. R&r took less than two hours, and required that the steering alignment subsequently be adjusted.
BTW, another Saab shop I talked to had just done the same job on another '91 9K. Coincidence? or are we starting to see the beginnings of a failure trend? At least the steering column didn't have to be replaced for $950 as some on this board suggested. (Phew!)
