I'll wager most who like stock pads haven't tried others. Stock pads are good except for a few glaring factors: price and dust, dust, dust! Wear is okay but not exemplary, and performance very good. But I can't tolerate the damn dust!

You can get some excellent aftermarket pads from Sobstory, et al, that will last well, perform on par or better than stock, cost less than stock, and will leave much less dust on your wheels. These are Axxis/PBR Deluxe pads. I've used them for 25 years and have no reason to switch. When I purchased my Aero 2½ years ago, the first thing I did was change the oil, then I removed the stock pads from the front and replaced them with Axxis. The rear isn't as much of a problem with dust and I'll leave them in place 'til they wear out, then Axxis goes in there too. Axxis/PBR also makes the famous Metalmasters pads, but I feel these are too skewed toward racing rather than street driving and tend to be spongy when cold, being more geared to repeated, no-fade stops when warmed up.

I have EBC Kevlar on my Harley which are absolutely great, but I have been taken aback by the price of Greenstuff pads. If they perform as well on a Saab as they do on my motorcycle, they'd be worth the money. I have 80k miles on my fronts and they are only half worn. Stopping power is superb and dust is almost non-existent. Someone here reported that they perform well but wear fast, which I find hard to believe given my experience with EBC kevlar pads.
