First release of the day (esp. on cold mornings) it would pop instead of releasing smoothly, but only on that first release. I lived with that and a noisy release bearing for a year or so, then replaced everthing related to the clutch. You have hydraulics, not a cable. I suspect the problem is a sticky slave cylinder. The fix is not easy and not cheap: You just have to do the whole clutch. Might as well live with it for as long as it lasts. It probably isn't an indicator if a big problem, although your car is going to need a clutch job eventually.
