Here is my perspective...unfortunatly I don't know what the offset of my wheels is. But in the face of a similiar dilemna, here is how I got some wheels. Accelerated Response in Canada (a sometimes TSN sponsor and listed on the Saab Sites list) faxed me a few pages of a catalog and said, pick out the wheels you want. Then, they go undrilled versions of the wheel and machined them to have the right offset and to be hubcentric. I did not check the offset or even ask, but they said that it would be right.
I got an ROH 17" x 7" wheel. With a heavy load in the car I heard a faint scraping. Upon investigating, I discovered that the wheel, when the suspension was fully compressed, was touching a bracket used to mount the brake line to the trailing arm. After relocating the bracket, everything works just fine. Long story...but if the off-set is accurate, this means that the is not a great deal of extra room back there. The thickness of the bracket and bolt head was no more than few mm. If you aren't changing the width of the wheel...then it might work. However, you may not know for sure until its all mounted and tested with a load in the car.
