93 9K CSE (Manual Trans),
I'm getting a loud knocking sound from the front of my car. The knock goes along with the speed of the car. The faster I go, the faster the knock (vice/versa). It also accompanies a grinding noise that you can feel in the car. The sound is there going straight and turning corners. Lastly, there is no problem shifting gears. The sound seans to be concentrated on the right FWD side of the car

Here's what I've done:

1. I thought it might be the wheel bearings. (Changed them and still have the same noise)

2. Inspected the drive train (visually) and could not see anything that could be banging against something. Everything seems tight and not loose.

3. I had the tires rebalanced and rotated. (same noise)

Past repairs:
Back in 1997, I had to have the transmission master cylinder and slave replaced because the clutch pedal was on the floor. (AAMCO, Do they do good work?)

The car has been driving beautifully until now.

Other info:
I am in the military and the car was stored for 3.5 years (1997-2001). When I picked up the car it ran beautifully. (No problems whatsoever.)

Since arriving here in Oklahoma I noticed the problem after going over train tracks. (I went over the tracks fast not realizing how bad the crossing was).

I have had this problem since October and I want to get it fixed before I take a long road trip. I know the dealer is going to charge me a fortune, but I am a good mechanic and if I can get the parts and fix it my self, I will.

I suspect some bushing or bearing that is worn or damaged.

Why the long history? To help with the troubleshooting....
