Fuel level, DI Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Thu, 30 May 2002 08:13:34 In Reply to: HELP - 92 9000T engine cut out, Jeff Young, Thu, 30 May 2002 07:44:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Does the engine just quit, or does it stumble, cough, try again, then die?
If it stumbles and takes it's time, that sound more like fuel. If you are running at a half tank or less, it could be the auxilary fuel pump. The tank has two pumps, and the aux or 'feeder' pump sucks up fuel at a half tank or less. If that pump is on it's way out, you get fuel starvation at half tank situations. Cure- replace the aux pump, but keeping the tank full is a stopgap.
If it just cuts out, it could be the DI cassette, as you have Direct Ignition in that year.
