It appears that my 9000's water pump needs replacing after only 60,000 miles and my indie quoted $350. I don't have the time to do it and vacation trips are coming up. Since the car came from a dealer with a warranty, he wants me to pay up front and let the warranty company reimburse me. Obviously he anticipates not getting $350 from the warranty firm, so it begs the question, whats the fair price for the repair. The guy is good and I trust him, but I've never had a warranty repair before. Do the warranty firms have flat rates that are lower than the rates of a fair shop?

Also, should I have him do the serpentine belt and idler pully (or anything else)as a precaution as long as they have to be removed in the repair?
