The car is an 88 9K turbo automatic. I made several posts last week with symptoms. I spent about an hour checking it out and have found a peculiarity. My symptoms were: 1) Reverse works fine 2) First slips badly in both Drive and Drive1 3) Everything is fine once the car shifts to 2nd gear. The other day I tried for 5 minutes to drive it unto my car ramps and had to settle for half way because it was slipping so badly. Yesterday, I drove it around my neighborhood. Most times it would barely engage first and would slip badly until I built enough speed to get to 2nd. Then all of a sudden it began acting like it had no problem at all. I could stop and start with no slipping. Once it was working properly, I probably did 10 start/stops. They all worked until I stopped, shifted to reverse, and then tried to go forward again. Major slippage. Can anyone take a guess what is going on here? I had given her up for dead but now I am not so sure. Any educated guesses are welcome.
