most likely cause is a low level or loss of refridgerant. The latter is normally caused by a leak on the condenser (The thing that looks like a radiator in front of the normal radiator). SAAB had an alloy/steel set up that eventually corrodes especially if they use salt where you live. The replacements (non SAAB)are better built (or seem to be).
Go to an a/c specialist who should leak test your system. If you haven't had any work done on it already he should convert it from R12 to R134a gas - a simple procedure. Change any parts that are leaking. Evacuate the system to get it dry and then recharge it with the new gas. There is some wisdom in replacing the receiver/dryer.
Its unlikely to be cheap. The cheap fix is recharging the gas and leaving it but...you'll be back.
