Mine died last week ('90 9000s, 150K miles) It started out with intermittent stuttering a couple of months ago. Last week it started stalling (3 or 4 times) after running for about 15 minutes, then goes perfectly. The final straw was a no-start when cold. I drove it to my indy (30 miles -- it jerked and bucked all the way there)and it crapped out a block away from the shop. Put in a new DI and it has run well since, except the "Check Engine" light has been on almost constantly since. It goes off if I boot it up to 5500, but soon comes on again. I suspect the O2 sensor, but what do I know, really. Its going in on friday to have the A/C fixed. According to my indy, all thats needed is the receiver/dryer, the in and out valves, a flush and charge. He says they have been doing it that way for years with great success. He says the R-134 is thinner than the R-12, and it might need a re-charge in a couple of years, but who knows how long the car will last? Since its only costing $500CDN ($350US) I'll believe him. All the quotes I had from A/C specialists were in the $2K to $2.5K range. Wish me luck.
