Virtually everything on a 9000, including relatively minor things, benefits tremendously from having someone with experience doing the work. There just aren't that many 9000's out there, and they are different enough, that your average repair shop is going to take longer, and may not do as well, on just about every job. The other thing with a non-specialist is that you may not get the problem diagnosed correctly, and other imminent failures could be overlooked.

On the positive side, there are a lot of small independent shops that work on 9000s routinely. These shops are almost always cheaper than the dealer and will provide equal, and frequently better, service.

There are exceptions to this rule for specialty subsystems like A/C, transmission work, body work, etc., but my experience is that straying out of these parameters is prone with expensive peril.
