I'm going back to your problem in my mind on and off, and doesn't really have a surefire answer.
So you are saying that, even if you put all your weight on the brakepedal, the left wheel will only stop for a second and then resume spinning?
If that's the case, we can rule out a brakehose that is clogged, because a swollen brakehose will still allow highpressure fluid going TO the caliper but not allowing it to float back into reservoir, creating a sticking caliper and burned pads.
I haven't had a bad valve block on 9K but I told you I have replaced several on the C900. It's kind of the same style even though the 900 have it seperated and mounted on the left inner fender.
When the valve block goes bad on the 900, the car violently pulls to the left when braking ( the wrong way in your case, since it seems to be the left one not doing it's job ) It pretty much rips the steering wheel out of your hands if you are not prepared. And the very next second it's ok and it can take several days before it happens again.
Some of the Jaguar cars use the same brake system and have the same problems.
As for the caliper size, I can't tell you yet because I haven't had a non turbo ABS in the shop since we started to talk about this. Several Turbos, but they use the bigger calipers.
