install Mercedes antifreeze (alternate complete flush?)

So many people praise this stuff, that I'd like to convert.
The good TSN sources say that the old Prestone (or similar) yellow stuff has to be completely flushed out due to it's incompatabilty with the Mercedes. They say to flush it with a hose for an hour.
I live out in the woods, and that yellow antifreeze is toxic! A hour's worth of flushing will produce many gallons of toxic waste.
Would the following protocol work OK? It seems like this would control the waste while still flushing all the old away.
1. remove thermostat and drain radiator.
2. refill system with pure water and run for a minute or 2
3. redrain radiator
4. repeat several times until no yellow color detected.
4a. [how do I completely drain the system at this point?]
5. install new thermostat and fill with 50:50 Mercedes and distilled water
6. run a few minutes until warm and top off as necessary.
Thanks for your time!
