With only 48,000 miles, I wouldn't be expecting anything major to go wrong for a LONG time, say, another 100k miles at least (if it's not an automatic anyway). Though, I have heard of manual gearboxes going out prior to 100k also, most of those I hear about are Aeros, though. I got my car with 151,000 miles on it, and excluding the gearbox, replaced by the previous owner at 120k, most of the original components were indeed original.
What has NOT been rebuilt/replaced on my car is a far shorter list. :) What's left as original is the turbo, body, interior, most of the wiring, springs, radiator, intercooler, some plumbing, front calipers. Pretty much everything else has been replaced. Oh, still on the original heater core.
I'm not a huge fan of preventative maintenance (ie fix something before it breaks). I have enough bills as it is, without paying for something that _may_ break soon. I do all the regular maintenance however, tune ups, oil changes, filter changes, fluid changes, etc. So if that's all you mean, certainly do that. I would recommend changing the gearbox fluid every 15-30k though, max. Keep an eye on the motor mounts, they tend to get eaten up. Still, I have not had any additional damage incurred by driving for a few weeks with bad mounts, and this is the case with most things in the 9000, it seems to me.
