Changed the head gasket, and now I have foamy oil, Ugh!

I'm kind of disheartened by this. I just finished putting my '92 9kt back together yesterday. I put in a fram filter and castrol oil (cheap) and plain water, because I just wanted to run it a bit and get any stuff out that may have gotten in while I had the engine open. So I changed to Mobil 1 today, and flushed and refilled with coolant.
Now I see foam in the oil, wasn't in there yesterday, or this morning.
I did have the head milled flat. And I torqued the head bolts as directed (44ft/lb-55ft/lb-90deg). So I don't know what else might be wrong.
I changed the head gasket because I was getting white smoke in the exhaust, which is now fixed. But it did take a while to burn off the old coolant that was in the muffler.
Any clues what might be wong besides the head gasket?
