20 offset should work just fine, on either size wheel, though as Michael says, to maintain the *same* suspension clearance as stock, you need lower than 20. My car has proved at least as far as clearance goes, it doesn't absolutely *need* to be that low, and I say, the closer you can keep to the stock offset, the less stress will be on other parts, hubs/bearings etc.
My 15 x 7 wheels have a 35mm offset, and they are good to go in the front, but need 3mm spacers in the rear, for an effective 32mm offset. Definitely higher than stock, but we do what we must. However, I certainly DO notice that my car likes to tramline, and that has been the case more so with the new wheels than with the stock wheels.
In a couple weeks I will be back to genuine Saab wheels on the car, and good riddance to the spacers and longer lug bolts and wheel locks and hub centric rings and all of it! I am just trying to decide what color to have my new wheels painted...any thoughts?
