My '93 CSET/4A has intermittent LHM too, always upon throttle blips either on flats or uphills. Sometimes I get steady "check engine" light come on afterwards but it goes away overnight. Had bleeder valve replaced, which now gives me better boost (vacuum leak ?). Had throttle body cleaned too. Fault code points to throttle position sensor but I'm told by my indy Saab mech that to replace the TPS required replacing the entire $$ throttle body.

I'm very frustrated by this problem and feels it's a safety issue on hwys on 1-lane mountain roads with little or no shoulder where pulling out to restart car is not necessarily safe. To me a $50,000 Saab shouldn't have this kind of embarrassing liability !

Now I'm avoiding taking the car on longer, out-of-town trips, unfortunately the exact kind of trips I'd enjoy the car for. At this point I'm seriously contemplating converting it to a non-TCS, non-electronic throttle system but it's undocumented and doubtful many mech's would venture into without full knowledge of the procedures/parts/prices. Can anyone help me in this regard ?
