It's not actually too bad. I don't know what model you have, mine is a 94 aero (as my handle suggests).
The worst part of the job was running the power cable through the firewall to power the amp. My amp is pretty big (600watts) and future expansion plans (another 300 watts or more)forced me to use 4 gauge cable (THICK). You can get away with smaller wire depending on your amps power output. I went from the battery into the "aquarium" and through the firewall through a grommet that ius almost directly behind the clock. I had to take the top off the dash to run it over the gauge cluster then done the front side of the driver's door. After that it just went under the door sill plate until the back seat where it just pops through the space where they fold. Total distance was about 17 feet (took a lot to go from battery to middle of dash then back to side of car)If you go to the engine page from the link below you can see how the fuse is situated next to the battery (which used 1.5-2 extra feet of wire).
That's how I got power to the amp, now about the sound signal. A good 15-17 foot patch cord (RCA style) with a amp turn on lead (really small wire) will be what you need. If you slide the deck out you can hook up the RCA cord and the amp turn on wire. If you pop off the trim piece on the passenger side of the center console, then you can guide the wires down behind where the fuse panel is (my car's configuration) and the over to the passenger side door sill. Then it's the same as the power cable.
Just make sure you have a good ground for the amp.
