When I replaced the turbo on my car I had similar symptoms. In my case I FORGOT to connect the large hose on the compressor side of the turbo (the hose that actually sends the compressed air to the airintake manifold) perhaps something similar happened to you. Maybe that hose is ripped/ damaged. I think that the turbo gauge would still read pressure 'cause it gets the pressure from another nipple on the compressor.
