part number. remove ashtray, stick hand in empty hole, push ACC control panel out of dash from rear. Look on pass side of unit for part #. I have part # 4071742. These units have a design flaw that causes them to crap out. They redesigned it with another one (p/n 4------) and it ended up being junk as well. They designed it one more time but I don't have an exact part number. Check with the dealer. Bugging the crap out of parts counter people is a free service and they love 101 questions :)
If it is one of the old ones the way to see if it still works properly is to do a diagnostic/calibration check by pushing the top left (auto) button and the bottom right (left arrow block right arrow) button at the same time and releasing. It will run through a sequnce and should start by dispaying a 0 and finish with the same 0 then go back to whatever it was set to prior to the test. If it displays anything other than 0 that is the number of faults in the ACC system. You can assume one of those is most likely the ACC control panel. Cost from dealer?? $1500 No that is not a typo that is one thousand, five hundred dollars! Test the system and look at part numbers before buying!
Oh, I bought my 93 9k CDE (no turbo)in late december with 84K miles for $4000 and love it (except that ACC problem!) I have heat on HI but as soon as I go down to 82 degrees it blows cold! I boil or freeze! I long for nice days!
