At least this is the way I did it on my '90 9k... I think earlier models are different:

1. Pry out the entire switch panel carefully (OK, you've done this one).

2. Disconnect the multi-pin connector at the bottom (don't care about
the orientation, there's only one way of putting it back in).

3. You will find the box consists of 3 parts: the lower cover, the
upper cover (with the actual switch panel) and a black thingy both
covers are snapped on to. You have to remove the upper cover... but
carefully! Insert a fine screwdriver under the rim (it's surprisingly
thin and soft) and slide it around, lifting the cover's notches off
the respective hooks. Do *not* tilt the whole thing, keep it perfectly
upright as it was built in during the whole process... there's a
considerable chance that you loose some of the small contacts inside.

4. With the upper cover removed, you will see a PCB with 9 or 11 small
copper and/or brass contact springs resting on it (2 for each window, 2
for the sunroof if you have one, 1 for the rear windows on/off
switch). Take the first one out, clean its silver contacts (I used fine
sandpaper), clean the respective printed contacts on the PCB (contact
cleaning spray) and put the contact back in... it has to move freely
and must not touch both printed contacts at the same time. Then
proceed to the next one.

5. Of course you can remove all of the contacts at the same time but
whatever you do: Be careful to remember which one goes where! They
look all alike but are not... if you misplace them you might fry the
circuitry at the first try to open a window.

6. "Reassembly is the reverse procedure" but you don't need the
screwdriver... the upper cover simply snaps on. Remember not to tilt
the box.

Hope this helps,
-fab
