...about religion or politics and you'll get fewer opinions than oil. Do a search on "synthetic oil" in the TSN archives and you'll get lots of info, most of it learned and righteous. Observe caveats and procedures you should follow if your car has high mileage, and heed recommendations to change early (3k miles) for two or three changes after switching from fossil to synthetic.
Saab doesn't manufacture oil, so they're buying from a manufacturer, relabeling it, marking it up, and then the dealer marks it up again. It may be a decent product, but it's undoubtedly over-priced, IMHO. Select from a group of excellent full-synthetic oils (Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Amsoil, to name a few), then search the archives again for info on switching from fossil to synthetic oil.
