1st time Saab owner. Owned '93 CSET for 10 mths now. So far spent Cdn$3000 on rebuilt auto tranny, Cdn$800 for new fan blower motor, Cdn$1200 for new elect. throttle body (car is TCS/ETS equipped), and a few other minor odds and ends. I've too contemplated whether I was going down the wrong path and should I trade "down" to a 900. But you know, 9Ks are just more solidly-built cars, but can be expensive in initial period of ownership until you rectify the problems that may have been overlooked by the previous owners.
Since I paid much less for my car than the price of a 3-yr old Honda Civic, I know after the major items are done (just timing chain left) that I'll have a much more sporty, luxurious, solid & safe car than many cars out there 3-4 times the price. AND the Saab unique exclusiveness is priceless.
Hope you hang on and reap the rewards of 9K ownership. When everything works you'd know you have one of the best cars on the planet, bar none.
