Seriously, though, I'd expect you should be able to do it in the 15.9 seconds the Aero can manage. While an Aero would hit 100 in 3rd gear, you'd probably be in 4th with the lower gearing of the pre-'94 car. Remember also that your boost will tail off a bit quicker in high RPM with the smaller turbo.
Beyond 100mph, expect an Aero to have the advantage due to the deep-breathing TD04 turbo (with added lag).
If you get within 1-2 seconds of these times, I'd say the results are inconclusive. Assuming you can control the clutch reasonably well on a straight dry road with no traffic (my downfall), and still can't get a 0-100 below 17-18 seconds, then you probably have a problem. This is all largely subjective on my part, based only on published figures for the Aero and my own limited experience of my '90 2.3CDT (manual tramsmission with traction control).
